he château's history
âteau Bonnac was built in 1494 by Gaspard de Villemur,
Sénéchal of the County of Foix and Lord of Bonnac.
In 1649, the Usson familly became owner about it,
restored it and establishes its residence until 1778.
Well-read people and cultivated, The Usson de Bonnac
maintained the correspondences with the principal
philosophers and writers of their time : Pierre Bayle,
Racine, La Fontaine, Leibnitz, Voltaire, Rousseau.
With died of the last Marquis d' Usson de Bonnac,
the castle was acquired by the abbot of Monteils,
General Vicar of the Bishop of Pamiers which decorated
the large living room and the vault with stuccos.
It is in 1816, that the family of the current owners,
Mr and Mrs Rene de Laportalière, acquired the castle.
